Idyllwild navigation contest
Apparently some folks have enjoyed following my blog, which is a delightful surprise. Now I have a surprise for you: the Idyllwild Navigation Challenge! It’s the first of what will hopefully be a recurring series of mini contests.
Now that I’m leaving Warner Springs, Idyllwild is my next stop. However, the PCT skirts the town, and as far as I can see, hitch-hiking options are limited.
Here’s we’re you come in: how should one get from the trail to town? Not how will I (probably on foot), but what’s the silliest, most imaginative, least-likely-to-be-of-any-help-to-me way to get there? Does it involve a giant ground sloth from the Pleistocene? Or a hat with a propeller? Or maybe a ride on a cat who, like Robin, forgets that sticking your tongue out is rude? You tell me!
Leave your idea in the comments below. The form may ask for your email and other things, but you can leave those blank. Just make sure you put something for your name.
Upon arriving in Idyllwild in ~4 days, a single expert judge (me) will evaluate the entries and pick a favorite. That person will get a small prize from the trail. Don’t worry, it won’t be used hiker socks—more like a postcard from Idyllwild.
Please, only one shortish (<100 word) entry per person.
Now I’d better keep walking. I believe I have a postcard to find!
Happy imagining,
