Perfect for sharing

Whew! I realized something: this blog is a good bit of effort. I love to write (more on that to come), and I’d write about my trip for my own benefit anyway, but not this voluminously.

I talked with a friend of Naomi’s who hiked the John Muir Trail a few years ago, and she said the level of logistical planning amazed her—you’re hiking after all, not trying to coordinate a moon landing. But each time you stop in town, you need to do all the chores of coming back from a trip (laundry, cleaning and maintaining gear, etc.) as well as all the chores to get ready for the next one (food shopping, arranging a ride to the trailhead, etc.). Add to that multiple hours of writing to finish what’s in progress and to update the blog—like I said, whew!

I’m enjoying it, of course, in part because I like to think you are enjoying it, but you can help me with something, my dear and long-suffering reader: if you like what’s here, consider telling a friend about it; if you don’t like it, tell an enemy. You can even talk about it on Twitter or Facebook or the newest combination of the two, TwitFace! And don’t be afraid to get in touch, either by leaving a comment or by using the Contact form.

As much as I may write for my own sake, this effort is all the more rewarding when others find joy in it. Perhaps this is the one time I’d like to find a crowd.

Thanks for joining me on this adventure; we do, of course, have plenty more to come!
